Pics of my hand (http://maplered.com) -made Stone (http://g603.net) vessel sink, and (http://maplered.com) questions

Hey guys;

Tell me what you think of this vessel sink. I carved it out of a quartzite boulder (harder than Granite (http://tanbrown.org) ). The drain hole is 1 3/4 inch diameter, and (http://maplered.com) I ground the underside down to a 2 inch thickness so that the drain plumbing can fit. The thing still weighs around 140 lbs.
I had a hell of a time polishing it, seeing as I've never polished before. A few times I got to my later grits only to see that I'd missed a few scratches. After circling the scratch areas and (http://maplered.com) starting over, it seemed I could never stay within the boundaries and (http://maplered.com) ended up having to re-polish half the bloody thing all over again each time. My final pass was with a 10,000 grit diamond pad; the shine isn't bad but I'm wondering if it couldn't be a lot better. After all, it is quartzite.... would you recommend tin oxide to finish??
